Who Does ChatGPT Recommend as the Best B2B Tech PR Agency? (October 2026 Study)
We asked ChatGPT the questions a CMO or founder asks when hiring a PR agency, then asked it to list every page it used. Here is what it recommended, where those answers came from, and what that means for any B2B company that wants AI tools to recommend it.
Short answer: ChatGPT built its PR agency recommendations almost entirely from third-party "best agencies" lists, not from agency websites. For specific questions, it cited agencies with dedicated pages that spell out exactly what they guarantee. When asked about one agency by name, its verdict leaned on review counts and independently verifiable results.
How we ran the test
- Date: October 12, 2026.
- Tool: ChatGPT with web search on, in a temporary chat with personalisation off, so past conversations and memory couldn't influence the answers.
- Method: we asked each buyer question, then asked ChatGPT to list the full URL of every page it used as a source.
- We repeat the same questions every month and will update this page with changes.
| Buyer question | What ChatGPT relied on |
|---|---|
| What is the best PR agency for B2B tech companies? | 3 sources: two "best B2B tech PR agencies" list articles and a PR firm ranking, plus agency homepages |
| Best tech PR agency for enterprise software companies | 15 sources: 11 list articles, 1 agency blog post and 3 agency case studies |
| Which PR agency can guarantee my tech company gets published on Business Insider? | 5 sources: agency pages dedicated to Business Insider placements and Business Insider's own sponsored-content page |
| Best PR agency for SaaS companies that want coverage in top-tier business publications | 5 sources: agency sector pages and case-study pages with measurable results |
| What is Jamco PR and is it a good PR agency? | Our website, our Clutch profile and our Trustpilot page |
Finding 1: recommendations are assembled from lists
For broad questions, the agencies ChatGPT recommended were the ones that appear again and again across third-party round-ups: comparison sites, marketing blogs and industry rankings. For the enterprise question, 11 of its 15 sources were list articles.
Jamco PR was not recommended in any of these answers. Being absent from the lists meant being absent from the answer.
Finding 2: specific questions reward specific pages
When the question named a publication and a guarantee, ChatGPT stopped citing lists and cited agencies' own pages about getting on Business Insider. The pages it chose were explicit about what is guaranteed, what happens if a placement doesn't publish, and whether a placement is editorial or sponsored.
For the SaaS question, it favoured sector pages that showed client counts, named outlets and measurable results over general service descriptions.
Finding 3: when asked about you by name, it checks what others say
Asked about our own agency, ChatGPT summarised our website accurately, but its verdict rested on third-party signals: the number of reviews on Trustpilot and Clutch, and whether results could be independently verified. A small review count was enough for it to recommend "more due diligence".
What this means for B2B tech companies
- Get onto the lists your buyers' questions draw from. Ask ChatGPT your category's "best of" questions, ask for its sources, and work on getting included in those pages.
- Publish one specific page per real buyer question, with terms, numbers and links to proof. Specific pages get cited; generic service pages rarely do.
- Build third-party proof on purpose: reviews, independent coverage and named case studies are what AI tools weigh before they recommend you.
- Keep your company description consistent everywhere AI tools look: your site, LinkedIn and every directory profile.
- Measure it: re-run the same questions monthly and track whether you are named and which sources are used.
